FLW Pro Fishing Tip of the Week
Snapple Pro Jacob Powroznik, Prince George, Virginia
No matter how good a fisherman you are, during the hottest part of summer you need to make sure you stay hydrated when you’re out on the water. I’ve been in lots of tournaments where guys have really gotten zapped and lost their focus because they didn’t drink enough water during the day and it caught up with them. On a typical fishing day, I’ll start out drinking a Dr. Pepper to get me going, then drink a couple of bottles of Snapple with a big breakfast. I don’t eat any more while I’m fishing, but I’ll drink a Snapple tea in the morning while it’s still fairly cool. Once it gets really hot in the afternoon, it’s all water and lots of it. You don’t want to wait until you get thirsty; you want to keep drinking water off and on. If you don’t, what’s likely to happen is that you’ll lose your energy and you won’t be able to fish as effectively. Stay hydrated to stay focused.
